What Makes Us Different

Armenian Language
& Culture

We teach the value of Armenian language, history, and culture each day. Additionally they will learn Armenian songs, folk melodies and read and perform pieces from famous Armenian writers.

Christian
Education

The students will learn about the life of Jesus, the parables of Jesus, and the Ten Commandments. A new topic is introduced each semester to keep the children engaged in learning about Jesus.

Art, Choir &
Performing Arts

Each child will learn the elements of art, famous artists, and Armenian traditions in the arts. School art shows during the year will display each child’s work.

Special Academic Features

All classroom instruction at CKACS is in English, but qualified Armenian language teachers – in both Eastern and Western Armenian- are located throughout campus. Each student takes part in weekly choral and instrumental music lessons with experienced instructors. To encourage creativity, students also take part in an art program on a weekly basis while Christian Education is incorporated into lessons each week. We also have an extensive After School Program that provides extra assistance in all areas.

Extra-curricular Activities

Students participate in the Private School Spelling Bee, CSU Fresno Peach Blossom Festival, and numerous community events. The CKACS Student Council plans new activities for  students throughout the year. These extra-curricular activities teach students to plan, collaborate, and use real-life experiences to complete each event.

Parent Participation

CKACS knows that family plays a large role in every child’s education. Our program recognizes parents are an integral part to ensure every student succeeds. There is an “Open Door” policy for all parents to take part in Parent Conferences, Parent Participation Hours, Parent Forums, Annual Assembly, and numerous major fundraisers like our Crab Feed, Annual Banquet, and International Night events. Parents are always welcome, and encouraged, to visit the classrooms as often as they would like. Supporting the school is the Parent Teacher Club, which involves most of the parents of students in school fundraisers and activities. Our active alumni support the school in numerous ways throughout the year.

Parent Teacher Club (PTC)

The Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is a mighty organization made up of dedicated parents committed to raising money for the school. The PTC works closely with the administration, staff, and the school board to put on numerous fundraising events throughout the school year.

With the money raised, the PTC has contributed to the purchase of a preschool play structure, water fountains, luncheon tables, shade structures, computers, band equipment, sports uniforms, and more. The PTC routinely donates funds to the classrooms to cover costs of school supplies and field trips, as well to the general school account to assist with basic operating costs.

PTC

Successful events of years past and present include the ever-popular monthly luncheons, See’s candy, Square 1, International Night, etc. The PTC also administers the school’s “Hye” Hopes for Bright Futures Commemorative Tile and bench program, as well as participates in the ‘Box Tops for Education’ Program.
The PTC gratefully recognizes the support and generosity of the community and strives to teach the CKACS students the importance of giving back.

In addition to fundraising, the PTC also organizes “free” events for the students and parents to enjoy, such as holiday pizza and ice cream parties, wine and cheese socials, Armenian dance lessons, and the widely successful annual Halloween Carnival.

The PTC gratefully recognizes the support and generosity of the community and strives to teach the CKACS students the importance of giving back. Each year, the PTC works with the students to collect non-perishable food items and assemble Thanksgiving dinners for families in need throughout the community.

Accreditation

Our K-6 program is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the Pre-K program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). CKACS is committed to academic excellence and provides a comprehensive, standards-based English language educational program while creating a healthy, moral and safe environment. In addition, students learn to read, write and speak in the Armenian language, as well as to gain an appreciation for heritage and culture – their own and those of others. CKACS also offers music, art and sports programs to further support students’ creative development.
